Thomas - Everyone Needs To Stand Up And Be Counted

16 April 2017

Conor Thomas was frustrated with his side’s 0-0 draw with AFC Wimbledon on Good Friday but the midfielder is now focussed on moving a step closer to safety by beating Walsall on Easter Monday.

“I think we needed two wins and a draw and we’ve got the draw first, so now we need two wins,” he said.

“It is tough and it is about finding the balance. Defensively we’ve been quite solid in the last four games but perhaps we’ve not scored as many goals as we would have liked to.

“At the end of the day, we’ve got to deliver in whatever formation we are put out in.

“We kept going against Millwall and got a late goal, we kept going against Fleetwood and got a late goal again and we had to switch it up against MK Dons and go for it a bit more but we got a late goal again.

“We just couldn’t get over the line against AFC Wimbledon on Friday, unfortunately.

“If we can keep it tight and keep a clean sheet then we know if we do get a goal then we win the game, so we’ve just got to keep going and hopefully keep nicking it.

“We know the situation we’re in, we’ve got to handle it and everyone is. We know that no one is shying away from it so everyone needs to stand up and be counted ready for the final three games of the season.

“It is so tight at the bottom and we just need to concentrate on ourselves. If we do get the wins then we will be fine.

“We’re just taking each game as it comes, we know we need a win from each game and hopefully we will get it (safety) wrapped up before the last game of the season.”
