Thomas - Every Game Is A Cup Final Now

17 February 2017

Conor Thomas has urged his team-mates to keep fighting together for the cause with a run of crucial fixtures ahead of them in the coming weeks.

Town have lost their last five games in the Sky Bet League One and they will be hoping to return to winning ways when they host Oldham Athletic in a crunch clash at The County Ground on Saturday (3pm Kick-Off).

“Every game is a cup final for us now given where we are in the table and as a team we’ve got to stick together and make sure we fight,” Thomas told swindontownfc.co.uk.

“We’ve got to treat every game as if it was our last one now.

“The last two results were difficult to take but, as I said, every game is a cup final now so we have to pick ourselves up for every game, dust ourselves down and go again – it is as simple as that.

“We can’t afford to dwell on what has happened and we need to do what we can to get out of the position we’re in.”

Thomas' last outing for Town came in the defeat to Oxford United earlier this month and he has declared himself ready and raring to go when his chance arises.

“I’ve got to be ready to take my chance when I’m called upon,” he added.

“I need to keep working and keep doing what I can day-by-day and make sure that if I am needed then I am ready to do whatever the manager needs me to do.

“It is good to have competition and on a personal level I’ve just got to keep working and wait for my opportunity.”
