Obika Looks Ahead To Bradford Test

16 March 2017

Jon Obika says Town will have to be prepared to be physical against Bradford City this weekend.

The Reds make the trip to Valley Parade on Saturday (3pm Kick-Off) hoping to bounce back from a 4-2 defeat to Sheffield United on Tuesday and Obika knows now is the time to step up to the plate.

“It was frustrating not to take anything from the game on Tuesday,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk.

“We can’t give up though and we have eight more games left and that is our focus now.

“We could see why Sheffield United are the best team in the league but the fact that we could come back from being two goals down should give us some confidence and we have to take that into Bradford this weekend.

“We need wins and that is what we are looking to do on Saturday.

“Bradford are physical and we need to match them physically and I feel then that our class will show.

“We need to be confident and this is the time to stand up and be counted.

“You want to dominate your opponent every game and if I can do that on Saturday then that will help the boys.

“Saturday is must-win for us and we have to give everything.

“I’m looking forward to the game.”

Obika has fond memories of playing at Valley Parade having bagged a brace on his second debut for Town back in September 2014.

“I remember meeting up with the boys earlier in the week and I trained maybe twice before I started that game,” he added.

“We played very well as a team and I was just glad to pitch in with the two goals.”
