INJURY UPDATE: Norris Awaiting Scan Results

13 February 2017

Town Head Coach Luke Williams has revealed that Luke Norris has undergone a scan on his groin in order to find out the true extent of the injury.

Despite being amongst the travelling party at the weekend, the striker was unable to play any part in the 1-0 defeat to Bury after failing a late fitness test shortly before kick-off.

Norris was assessed by Town’s Medical team earlier today and was sent for further tests in a bid to find out how much damage has been done to the groin area.

“Luke went for a scan instead of training today to see if there was any tear in the muscle,” Williams told swindontownfc.co.uk.

“The Physio will be assessing the scan results as and when he gets them sent through.

“We’re hoping that it is only minor.

“He just felt something in his groin in training, thought it was nothing and travelled on the weekend and had a fitness test before the game, but there was too much pain in there to play through.”

Jon Obika made his long-awaited comeback from injury during the defeat to Bury at the weekend and he could well be in contention for a start against Northampton tomorrow night (7.45pm Kick-Off).

“There is a good chance that he’ll start,” Williams added.

“I need to be 100% sure that I’m not taking a risk with him because to lose him now would be a total disaster, so I need to be 100% sure and then he’s got a real chance of being in the starting line-up.

“His first three or four touches on Saturday were awful and that is to be expected – you need to get that out of your system and I’m pleased he got the time on the pitch to get through that and then start to show what we have been missing.

“He’ll be ready sooner rather than later to start.”

Finally, Williams provided a fitness update on Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill, Brad Barry and Ellis Iandolo with the trio all recovering well from their respective knocks.

“All three are doing well and training fully,” he continued.

“We will potentially have everybody available in the near future.

“It is great to have everyone available and if there is any problem then you know someone is ready to step-in immediately and they are fully fit.”
