INJURY UPDATE: Barry In Line For A Return To Action This Weekend

17 February 2017

Town defender Brad Barry could well make his long-awaited comeback from injury against Oldham Athletic on Saturday (3pm Kick-Off).

It has been a frustrating period for the defender who has been consigned to the sidelines since early January after taking a heavy blow to his ankle during the 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury Town.

However, having resumed full training in the last couple of weeks, Barry is now ready and raring to go and could be in contention to play some part against the Latics at SN1 tomorrow.

“Everybody is where they were in terms of fitness,” Head Coach Luke Williams said at his pre-match press conference earlier today.

“Bradley Barry has had more time to train and he’s fit. We’ve obviously seen that Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill has been on the pitch now, so that injury worry is no longer a problem.

“Brad can be available (on Saturday) and he’s raring to go so it is another option for us.”

However, Town will have to plug a gap at the heart of the defence with Raphael Rossi-Branco suspended for the next two games after picking up his tenth booking of the season in the defeat to Northampton on Tuesday evening.

“It is very difficult and he’s been a very important player for us, but now we have to come up with a solution that works for the majority of the players that we’ve got," Williams added.

“It needs to work for the ones that we think are in the best form, the best combination of players that we think will work well together and complement each other’s strengths and hide each other’s weaknesses, so we have had a couple of days to try and put that into practice and we’re sure that we’ve got a very good chance of winning tomorrow."
