TOWN were beaten 2-0 by Shrewsbury Town at Greenhous Meadow.
Goals either side of half time condemned Swindon to their second away-day defeat of the campaign.
Fit-again Alex Pritchard replaced Tijane Reis in what was just one change to the starting line-up. New signing Nile Ranger took his place amongst the substitutes.
After a patient start, a mistake at the back from Swindon gifted the home side the lead. Adam Reach pounced on a loose pass and found himself through on goal. With time to pick his spot, the on-loan debutant advanced before calmly slotting beyond Foderingham and into the corner.
Moments later, the winger had almost doubled the home side’s lead but his looping header landed just wide of the Town goal.
Swindon gradually started creating chances but could not find the crucial final ball. Ryan Harley’s low cross was easily claimed by Weale before Nathan Byrne dragged wide after cutting in off the wing.
Before the half was over, Shrewsbury’s Joe Jacobson was inches away from scoring one of the goals of the season. A cleared cross dropped to the full back on the edge of the area. Swinging his left boot with the expert timing of a test-standard batsman, Jacobson connected with the sweet spot and sent a fizzing volley just over the crossbar.
Town began the second forty-five brightly. Miles Storey, Ryan Harley and Nathan Byrne all had efforts on goal. Despite making inroads, Swindon had Wes Foderingham to thank for keeping the scoreline at 1-0 as he reacted brilliantly to keep out an effort that had ricocheted goal-wards off Darren Ward.
Akwasi Asante should have scored the home side’s second midway through the half. Another lapse at the back allowed him a run through on goal. Despite having time to pick his spot, the striker dragged his shot wide.
Inside the final ten minutes, Shrewsbury did eventually double their lead. Another mistake at the back allowed substitute Tom Bradshaw to somehow win the ball and manoeuvre himself into a shooting position inside the box before sidefooting home past Foderingham.
